Large canvases hanging from the monumental trees showing the colors of the seasons and the signs of time. A line of ceramic tiles across the lawn, scattered with leaves and the grass that grows. Watercolors and “White” paintings from the early 1980s that interplay with the decorative motifs adorning the age-old walls. Here, Giorgio Griffa’s works reveal all their propensity for making delicate connections with space and nature.
The exhibition unfolds over eight stages, without any set order of viewing and without any claim to being exhaustive, revealing different aspects of over fifty years of conceptual continuity in painting. Minimalist in its staging, the exhibition is accompanied by a variegated soundtrack curated by Roberto Galimberti and by quotes from Griffa’s writings, opening up insights into themes dear to the artist and into the motivations behind his work.
As customary for the castle, the didactic initiative “From one meter down” gives visitors of all ages playful opportunities to observe and reflect on art with the spirit of a child.
