A half-hour with Antonio Grulli
With the Giorgio Griffa exhibition A Line, Montale, and Something Else at Miradolo Castle as his backdrop, Antonio Grulli talks about the light work Blueyellow (2022)—designed by Griffa for the City of Turin’s Luci d’Artista initiative—and its installation in the urban environment. The work creates a dynamic wave of blue light that gravitates around spirals of yellow light, evoking Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night. First installed in 2022 in Turin’s Piazza Cavour, in 2023 the light work was moved to the Sambuy Gardens, opposite Porta Nuova train station.
ANTONIO GRULLI, born 1979 in La Spezia, is an art critic and curator for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 seasons of Luci d’Artista—one of Turin’s leading public art events, which he himself describes as “unique at the international level.” Grulli has written extensively for a great number of publications (including Flash Art, Artribune, Exibart, Mousse Magazine, and Corriere della Sera) and curated exhibitions for prestigious art venues in Italy and around the world, focusing in particular on performance art and contemporary trends in painting.
