GG Archive

A dynamic system of life, interconnections, and apertures.

The Giorgio Griffa Archive documents the corpus of the artist’s work in over fifty years of painting. Its primary purpose is to protect that corpus and the artist’s thought, and in doing so be a resource in support of curators, scholars, collectors, restorers, galleries, museums, and institutions. The archive lives in the present, engaging with the world and all that happens. It is not a dusty repository in which his work lies dead and buried, but a thriving ecosystem made up of interconnections and open to new connections.

This is the spirit that guides the archive in its careful conservation work, in the scrupulous certification of authenticity, and in its close cooperation with art fraud investigators, drawing on all fields of science and knowledge. Its catalogue work builds on a rich system of interrelationships between heritage, events, people, and institutions, facilitating search and access and inviting users to wander through its meanderings and explore its original perspectives.
